Directors
Verge is always looking for experienced directors to join our Creative Team. If you are an experienced director who is interested in directing work that has been curated by the Verge Creative Task Force, please submit your resume by email to Kate Britton, our Education & Community Outreach Director.
Director Proposals
To be considered for the 2025 season, please submit by June 1st, 2024.
Area directors are also encouraged to submit proposals for musicals or plays that will appeal to a broad base of performers and audiences. Verge produces challenging, thought-provoking, heart-inspiring theater always leading with the question: Why this play now?
Please send the following materials in an email as a single attachment (Word or PDF). Your application should be no more than four pages total. Send the email to Community Outreach Director, Kate Britton.
Summarize your project. Include: Play title, a brief synopsis, author, characters and their ages/genders/ethnicities if applicable
Tell us why you want to direct this show, in this place, at this time? Tell us a little bit about your vision for this show.
How will you help get the word out about your play? Do you have ideas for how to market your show? Might your play topic enable cross-marketing with other organizations? (examples: Planned Parenthood, Haven)
Research the cost of royalties for this show and include that amount in your proposal
Include an appropriate resume or bio, with two to three references
What special or technical needs do you anticipate? What are the major production challenges Verge would face producing this play in our space?
How will you, as director, overcome or mitigate these potential issues in production?Do you have anyone in mind for production crew such as music director, stage manager, choreographer, designers, etc.?
What, if any, commitments affect your availability to direct this play in 2024-2025? When do you hope to have this show go up? If you have known or likely conflicts that would impact your engagement with this project, please let us know!
Playwright Proposals
SHARE YOUR WORK WITH US!
Although we have a particular interest in new works, we will also accept previously produced or published plays for consideration. We are currently considering short plays, one-acts, and full-length plays.
We are committed to working with playwrights throughout their process! Your plays will be considered for workshops, staged readings, and full productions.
