New works are central to our mission.

It is with new works that theater grows. New works afford us the opportunity to ask questions that are important NOW in a way that people can hear immediately and in a way that fits today’s Montana.

Share your work with us!

You have plays… we have a theater… let’s work together!

Please share your work with us if...

  • your work is quirky and inviting,

  • you want to challenge and inspire audiences,

  • your work is different from what most Montana audiences expect and have the opportunity to see, and

  • you would like to collaborate with theater artists in Montana.

Although we have a particular interest in new works, we will also accept previously produced or published plays for consideration. We are currently considering short plays, one acts, and full-length plays.

We are committed to working with playwrights throughout their process! Your plays will be considered for workshops, staged readings, and full productions.

Get in touch here and we'll get right back to you!

Verge Theater is one of many theaters participating in Playwrights Welcome, a new program developed for Dramatists Guild of American Members by Samuel French along with Dramatists Play Service, Dramatic Publishing, Music Theatre International, Playscripts and Rodgers and Hammerstein. The goal is simple: to provide free access to theatre for playwrights, composers and lyricists around the country.

We are extremely proud to be the first Montana theater company to join this terrific program! We are committed to supporting the creative process of playwrights and by extention the vibrancy of theater in our community and of American theater as a whole! We understand that attending theater is an integral part of how playwrights learn their craft and grow as artists. We are happy to do our part to make this possible!

To see a show...

Playwrights, if you're interested in seeing a show at Verge, you can do one of two things: email tickets@vergetheater.com or simply show up at their box office before the curtain and ask if we have any Playwrights Welcome tickets available. If we still have seats available, you will need to present your Dramatists Guild membership card as well as your ID. (Click here to learn more about becoming a Dramatists Guild member.) Then, enjoy the show!

Montana Playwrights Festival

This summer, Verge Theater partnered with the Montana Playwrights Network to host the inaugural Montana Playwrights Festival. Open to both playwrights and the public, the festival gave those interested in how a play comes to life a backstage pass into the process.

The festival featured staged readings of plays in development and works-in-progress, showcasing work from talented playwrights around the region.

The festival also included three workshops covering a range of topics.
