Verge Theater’s former Education Director, Danielle Sather, crafted our community outreach program, Pause & Effect in 2020. Pause and Effect, serves our community members experiencing incarceration at the Gallatin County Detention Center with evidence-based theater classes offered in person. This year Verge served more than 100 community members at GCDC, expanding our classes from two to three each week. We recently secured a grant to help us offer classes in Spanish as well as English. Our curriculum is designed to help participants develop communication and teamwork skills; foster empathy and laughter; increase self-confidence; and provide an outlet for emotions and trauma through writing and performing. Since Verge began Pause and Effect in 2020, the GCDC has seen a 2% drop in recidivism.

Verge Theater relies on Grant Income, Corporate Partnerships, and Individual Donations to keep this program thriving. Donations from community members like you will help fund:

  • Art Supplies

  • An additional experienced, bi-lingual theater arts teacher.

  • Data collection and communication between organizations devoted to serving community members experiencing incarceration.
